What constitutes professional vs personal in a family enterprise is impossible to determine – the two are inexorably intertwined. A crisis in the business can affect the entire family, regardless of their participation in the business, and a personal crisis such as death, divorce, or scandal can affect the business. Not to mention interpersonal dynamics that tend to be more complex than in your average business. Because of that, we apply special care to the support aspect of our work and use mediation techniques where applicable.
What does a typical engagement look like?
When it comes to family businesses and family offices, there is no “typical.” For business disruption issues, a Ravenyard engagement could look very similar to what we would do for any company. When the concern centers around scandal or loss, the engagement could be more coaching-centric, either 1:1 or family mediation and/or workshops.
